Starting a Consulting Business in Australia: Hangout For New Founders and Those Finding Their Way

Over the past (nearly) five years of Only Good Content, I’ve had more conversations than I can count with people who want to do what I did - build something of their own, particularly people looking for information on starting a new consulting business in Australia.

Some are consultants who’ve been sitting on the edge of independence for years. Others are parents wondering if there’s a version of business that fits around small humans.

They ask how I started, how I made it work and whether it's even possible to grow a business when family life still needs so much from you.

The good news is that it's possible, because I did it. I can also happily report that I've met my original goal of being at the school gate for drop off and pick up (yes, that was in my original business plan). However, it doesn't happen by accident - you need some care, planning and most importantly, inspiration from those who have gone before you.

So, I’ve decided to create a small corner on Instagram - a platform I've avoided up until now, being somewhat camera shy! However, it's the perfect place where I can share what I’ve learned (and what I’m still learning) from my experience running Only Good Content and building a consultancy from the ground up.

While it's still in its early days, I'm building the space to be useful to anyone out there who wants to do things a little differently, or anyone walking a similar path to what I was all those years ago. In particular, I want it to be a little corner for women balancing career, creative goals and kids who still wake up too early.

I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes reflections on life as a founder and consultant, the realities of running a business with a family, and the systems and habits that make it all possible (most days). There will also be thoughts on writing, creative independence and what it takes to make things happen when the timing never feels perfect.

My hope is that it becomes a small, supportive space for founders-in-progress. The ones building something good between everything else that matters.
